Junior forward Stephanie Anderson of the Bemidji State University women’s hockey team will be participating in the 2014 USA Hockey Winter Training Camp on December 27th through December 31st at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota.
The invitation to the USA Women’s Hockey Camp includes 40 of the top players in the nation. This camp is a tryout for the USA Women’s National Team. Anderson becomes one of four BSU players who have had this opportunity, including former Beavers Montana Vichorek, Emily Erickson and Erin (Cody) Read.
Anderson will be training alongside 16 members of the US team who won the silver medal in the 2014 Winter Olympics. For Anderson, it will be an experience of a lifetime.
Anderson, a native of North St. Paul, Minnesota transferred from the University of Minnesota after the 2011-12 season to finish her career at Bemidji State. After sitting out the 2012-13 season, Anderson has made an impact for the Beavers. This year she is an Associate Captain and third in team scoring for Bemidji State with 5 goals and 5 assists. So far this season, Anderson has a +8 and has 57 shots on goal, an average of 3.35 shots on net per game. She boasts a career total of 24 points. Anderson is also a key component of the Beaver special teams.
