Bemidji State University forward Lauren Miller has been named the Co-WCHA Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Beavers to a split in its series against Lindenwood University Jan. 2-3.
Miller led the Beavers offensively with three goals against Lindenwood University last weekend. All three of Miller’s goals came in Saturday’s 6-0 victory over the Lions. It was the first hat trick for a BSU player since Jan. 28, 2011 when Erin Cody accomplished the feat against University of Minnesota Duluth.
With the three goals over the weekend, Miller has six goals this season, which ties the Brockville, Ontario native with teammate Kaitlyn Tougas for the most goals on the squad.
This is the first time that Miller has taken home a WCHA honor in her career and seventh for the Beavers this season. Miller joins Alexis Joyce, who is a two-time Rookie of the Week honoree (Dec. 2, Dec. 16), Brittni Mowat (Defensive Player of the Week, Nov. 4, Nov. 18) and Ivana Bilic (Defensive Player of the Week, Oct. 1, Dec. 9) as players that have taken home WCHA accolades this season.
Bemidji State (12-9-1, 7-8-1 WCHA) will return to conference action this weekend as it travels to play No. 7 Minnesota Duluth Jan. 10-11.
