The Bemidji State University women’s ice hockey team will continue an eight-game road swing this weekend with trip to No. 3 University of Wisconsin. The Badgers swept the Beavers earlier this season in Bemidji, Minn. by scores of 2-1 and 4-3.
About the Beavers
Bemidji State will look to make a move in the conference standings this weekend against the No. 3-ranked Badgers. The Beavers currently sit fifth in the WCHA pecking order with 26 points. BSU is just four points out of third place (Ohio State, 30).
BSU’s offense has come from many different sources as all but one skater that has suited up for the Beavers have scored at least one point. Leading the way offensively for the Beavers are juniors Kaitlyn Tougas (7g, 12a) and Ivana Bilic (5g, 12a).
Brittni Mowat has seen the bulk of the work in net for the Beavers this season. Mowat is 11-7-1 with an 1.47 goals against average (GAA) and .951 save percentage. Mowat’s GAA and save percentage marks rank ninth and second nationally.

Wisconsin (17-3-2 overall, 13-3-2 WCHA) currently sits atop the WCHA standings with a one point lead over Minnesota. The Badgers are coming off a rare one-point weekend as they lost and tied at Minnesota by scores of 4-1 and 1-1. Before the loss and tie, the Badgers had won nine straight games.
UW has one of the deepest offensive attacks in the WCHA as 11 different Badgers have reached double-digits in points. Karley Slyvester leads the way with 27 points (9g, 18a), while Brittany Ammerman paces in goal scoring with 10 this season.
In goal, sophomore Ann-Renee Desbiens has made 19 of the 22 starts for Wisconsin. Desbiens is 14-3-2 with an 1.35 goals against average and .933 save percentage. Seven of the 14 victories have been shutouts for Desbiens.
