The Bemidji State University track and field team posted several top finishes and career highs as they finished tied for fifth place at the Cobber Duals at Concordia College Saturday. Junior Emily Turner established career highs in both the 1,000-meter run and the mile run.

Turner clocked a 3:17.01 to finish in third place in the 1,000-meter run, and then posted a time of 5:30.63 to place fourth in the mile run.

Several other Bemidji State competitors finished near the top in their events:

Hailey Horob finished in third place in the pole vault, with a throw of 10-4. Austyn Eng also finished in fifth, with a throw of 9-4.75.

Sara Melom placed fifth in the 400-meter run (1:01.22), and also placed eighth in the high jump (4-10.25).

Nicole Crummy scored a 1:43.26 in the 600-meter run to finish in fifth place.

Denna Hegg finished in seventh in the weight throw of 44-11.75.

In addition, the 4×400-meter relay team of Horob, Crummy, Melom, and Nikki Anderson raced into a fourth place finish with a time of 4:22.71.

The Beavers will travel to Duluth, Minn. next Saturday to compete in the Lake Superior Challenge. Events are set to get begin at noon, Feb. 7 at the St. Scholastica-Burns Wellness Commons.
