The Beavers moved to 10-12-4 overall and 6-8-4 in conference action with a three point weekend last weekend at home against Bowling Green. The Beavers now embark on a four-game road swing through Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. BSU will travel to Michigan Tech next weekend for a 6:07/4:07 p.m. series. February 13-14, the Beavers turn their focus to Northern Michigan.

Bemidji State University goaltender Michael Bitzer has been selected for Western Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie of the Week honors following play versus No. 6 Bowling Green State University, Jan. 30-31. Bitzer has now been honored by the league in three consecutive weeks.

Bitzer helped Bemidji State run its unbeaten streak to four games–all against top-10 opponents–and capture three of four points against Bowling Green last weekend. The freshman from Moorhead, Minn. recorded 41 stops and a .911 save percentage, held the Falcons scoreless in seven power-play opportunities and posted a 1.93 goals against average on the weekend. Bitzer recorded 18 saves in Friday night’s 5-2 victory, before logging 23 stops in 64:31 as Bemidji State rallied from a 2-0 deficit to earn a 2-2 tie Saturday.
