The BSU Mens Hockey Team travels to Northern Michigan this weekend. BSU and NMU are tied, 3-3-2, in an all-time series that got its start in 2009. Bemidji State is unbeaten when playing the Wildcats on their home ice (1-0-1). The Beavers took three points from NMU earlier this season, winning 4-2 Dec. 12 at Sanford Center before tying 1-1 (OT) in the series finale. BSU’s last game at Barry Events Center was a 5-0 victory Oct. 24, 2009.
Offensively, no BSU player has more than two career points versus the Wildcats, however, senior Philip Brewer has accounted for two of his career nine goals versus NMU, which includes the only game-winning goal of his 96-game collegiate career. Myles Fitzgerald, who has recorded nine points (4g-5a) as a freshman, has recorded a point in each game he has faces NMU (1g-1a). Michael Bitzer is 1-0-1 during his career when facing NMU. He has allowed just three goals in 125 minutes for a 1.44 goals against average and has stopped 36 of 39 shots faces for a .929 save percentage.
The series will get underway at 6:07 p.m. (CST) Friday with the finale set for 6:07 p.m. (CST) Saturday at Barry Events Center in Marquette, Mich.
