The Bemidji State University softball team split a pair of games in its second day of competition at the West St. Paul Dome. The Beavers fell in its first game of the day to Minot State University, 7-6, but rebounded to knock off Minnesota State University Moorhead, 9-7 in extra innings.
The win over the Dragons was the first for the Beavers since Feb. 20, 2013.
BSU was a perfect four-for-four in stolen base opportunities in the four games. Freshman Lexi Ripka led the way with two swipes.
The Beavers hit .320 in the four games compared to .291 from their opponents.
Powering BSU’s offense the most in the four games were Lexi Ripka, Kaitlyn Shea and Jessica Yost. Ripka led the team with seven hits, while Shea and Yost led the team with RBI.
Next up: Bemidji State, now 2-2, will make its return to the field March 7-13 when it travels to Tucson, Arizona to play 12 games against NCAA Division II, II and NAIA competition.
