The Bemidji State University men’s ice hockey team is back at Sanford Center this weekend to host Minnesota State University, Mankato in a series to wrap up the Western Collegiate Hockey Association regular season. With just two games to play, both teams have plenty riding on the series. Minnesota State, which is 24-6-3 overall and 20-3-3 in league play, can lock up the regular-season title and gain control of the MacNaughton Cup with a tie or two losses by Michigan Tech. BSU, which is 15-14-5 overall and 11-10-5 in WCHA play, still has its sights set on its first home WCHA playoff series in program history. With just one point on fifth-place Northern Michigan University, BSU could secure a postseason home date March 13-15 with three points this weekend. Without three points or more, the Beavers will leave their playoff fate partially in the hands of the Wildcats who are at Michigan Tech this weekend.
