The Bemidji State University softball team opens Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play this week with three doubleheaders. The Beavers will open conference play March 24 with a double dip against University of Minnesota Crookston at Chet Anderson Stadium. Following its matchup against UMC, BSU will play a pair of home doubleheaders against Upper Iowa University, March 28 and Winona State University, March 29.
Angie Roberts and Lyndsey Peterson have been the Beavers’ top offensive players so far in 2015. Roberts leads the team in batting average (.424), hits (25), runs (14) and stolen bases (5), while Peterson has hit .420 with a team-high seven extra base hits (5 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run). BSU has used a mix of four pitchers in 2015. Sophomore Jessica Yost has six of the team’s nine wins in the circle and ranks eighth in the NSIC with 65 strikeouts in 42.1 innings.
