The Bemidji State University softball team will wrap up a season-long eight-game home stand with a mid-week doubleheader against St. Cloud State University. The first pitch between the Beavers and Huskies is scheduled for 2 p.m. from the BSU Softball Field.

Scouting Bemidji State

The Beavers went 3-3 last week and their record stands at 15-19 overall and 6-12 in NSIC action. The two win totals are the sixth and fourth-most by the Beavers in program history, respectively.

Lyndsey Peterson has been Bemidji State’s top offensive player all season long, as the junior outfielder leads the team in batting average (.394), hits (41), doubles (12), triples (1) home runs (6) and walks (12). In addition to Peterson, Jessica Yost is tied for the team-lead with six home runs and paces the team with 24 RBI. Angie Roberts has set the table for both Peterson and Yost this season ranking second on the team with a .363 batting average and leading the way in runs scored (22) and stolen bases (5).

In addition to her work with the bat, Yost has also led BSU’s pitching staff with 11 victories. Yost, who ranks fifth in the NSIC with 135 strikeouts, leads the team in wins (11), innings pitched (104.2), strikeouts (135), shutouts (3) and ERA (3.21).

Numbers To Ponder:

6 – Lyndsey Peterson and Jessica Yost both have six home runs this season, which is one shy of tying the program record for the most home runs in a single season. Peterson is also two home runs shy of tying the career home run record (15) at BSU.

4 – When Bemidji State holds its opponents to four runs or fewer it has a record of 13-2, but when it allows more than four runs it has posted a 2-17 record.

12 – The Beavers have won six conference games this season. The last time BSU has won that many NSIC games was 12 years ago in 2003 when it won eight.
