Bemidji State University Athletics put on their annual Beaver Nation Celebration Thursday night in the BSU gym. Seniors from all teams were honored for their years of blood, sweat and tears.
Named as Newcomers of the Year were: Mike Bitzer from the BSU Mens Hockey team, and Sierra Senske of the BSU Womens Basketball team.
Named as Athletes of the Year: Interview Brittni Mowat of the BSU Womens Hockey team, and Interview Matt Prapevessis of the BSU Mens Hockey team.
Mowat played and started in 33 games for the Beavers. The Sophomore Goalie Led the team with a 19-13-1 Record. She played a total of 1964:08 Minutes and made 949 saves and had a sav percentage of .945. She had a career high 7 shut outs snd was named to the All WCHA first team.
Co-Captain Matt Prapevessis played in all 38 games, leading the team in points with 24 (9g-15a)… ranked third among WCHA defenseman in scoring… Had two game-winning goals, four power-play goals, 73 blocked shots, plus/minus rating of (+6)… Posted career season-high in points, and game-high points with three at Alaska Anchorage (12/5/14)… Named WCHA Defensive Player of the Week (Dec. 5-6)… WCHA Scholar Athlete… WCHA All-Academic Team… All-WCHA Second Team.
