The Bemidji State University volleyball team will officially get its 2015 season underway Monday at the BSU Gymnasium. The 10-practice, week-long preseason training camp begins the Beavers’ preparation for the GVSU Riverfront Classic to open the season Sept. 4-5 in Allendale, Mich.
Sixth-year head coach Wayne Chadwick’s 2015 roster features 10 returning student-athletes, including 2015 NSIC Preseason Player to Watch Jessica Yost. Yost, who started all 28 of BSU’s matches in 2014, posted 300 kills to lead the Beavers and become the first BSU player since Bethany Thompson, in 2011 and 2012, to pace the team in kills in back-to-back seasons.
BSU will compete against Grand Valley State University, Ohio Dominican University, Daemen College and Carson-Newman University at the GVSU Riverfront Classic and will open its home season at 5 p.m. Sept. 14 when it hosts Northern Michigan University.
