The Bemidji State University soccer team officially got its 2015 season underway August 15th as student-athletes moved back to campus for fall training camp.
BSU opens its 2015 regular season Sept. 3, when it hosts University of Minnesota Crookston for an NSIC contest. The match will be held in conjunction with BSU’s Community Appreciate Day. Admission to the Beavers’ home-opening match is free.
Head coach Jim Stone, who is in his 14th year at the helm of the BSU soccer program, welcomes 23 players to camp this season, which includes seven regular starters, 18 additional letterwinners and five newcomers. Sarah Stram highlights all returning players after posting 30 points as a sophomore, including a team-best 12 goals and five game-winners. Sophomore Raquel Thelen added a team-high seven assists and 13 points.
Bemidji State has been tabbed as the league’s preseason No. 6 pick and are coming off a 2014 season in which the Beavers’ finished seventh with an overall record of 9-9-1 and a 8-6-1 mark in NSIC play en route to its sixth straight berth into the NSIC Tournament.
