Locked in a scoreless tie for more than 51 minutes, junior forward Sarah Stram netted her second goal of 2015 to lift the Bemidji State University soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Northern Michigan University in nonconference action Tuesday afternoon.
The goal, which came in the 52nd minute of play, came off a pass form Christine Szurek just outside the box and Stram beat the Wildcats’ goalkeeper.
That was all the offense BSU needed as freshman goalkeeper Anna Fobbe turned aside all 10 NMU shots on goal for her first collegiate shutout.
BSU, which improved to 2-0-0 overall, returns to Chet Anderson Stadium for a two-game homestand beginning at 3 p.m. Friday against Missouri Western State University. Sunday, the team wraps up the homestand with a nonconference matchup with Northwest Missouri State University. The opening kick for the special Cheryl Smith Memorial / Cancer Awareness Game is slated for noon.
