The Bemidji State University men’s golf team successfully defend its BSU Invitational title Monday at the Bemidji Town and Country Club. Gabe Douglas led the way for the Beavers carding rounds of 69 and 76 for a one-over-par 145 and medalist honors.
BSU has five players among the top 10 finishers and occupied the top three spots on the leaderboard. In addition to Douglas, fellow freshman Will Czeh finished just one stroke back in second place (76-70–146/+2) and Aaron Leintz was just three strokes off the pace, tied with three others for third place (76-72–148/+4).
As a team, BSU garnered an 11-stroke lead after the first day of competition on the strength of a three-under-par 69, and added two strokes to its lead on day two. BSU finished with 303-292–595 (+19) to take a 13-stroke victory over University of Manitoba (314-294–608/+32) and the rest of the field.
The Beavers now set their sights on University of Jamestown Invitational at the Jamestown Country Club in Jamestown, N.D. The 36-hole event will begin Sunday with the final round set for Monday.
