Emily Larson turned in a 13-over-par 85 to gain medalist honors and lead the Bemidji State University women’s golf team to a BSU Invitational title Friday at the par-72, 6,116-yard Bemidji Town and Country Club.
As a team, the Beavers finished with a seven-stroke cushion over the University of Minnesota Crookston (370/+82), netting 363 (+75) to claim its first event of the 2015 season.
Larson’s 13-over-par (85) placed two stokes ahead of UMC’s Marina Farrow (87) and the rest of the field, atop the leaderboard. In addition, Katy Woelfel finished tied for third at 88 (+17 and Mary Elmquist was one stroke back in fifth with an 89 (+17).
The Beavers now shift their focus to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships, Oct. 10-11. The 36-hole event at The Classic at Madden’s in Nisswa, Minn. serves as the first half of the unique, slit-season championship. The final 36 holes will be played April 23-24, 2016 at Dacotah Ridge Golf Club in Morton, Minn.
