The Bemidji State Mens Hockey team will travel to Alaska for the New Year. The two-game Western Collegiate Hockey Association series kicks off a 10-day, four-game road trip to Alaska and the Beavers hope to use the trip as a spring board into the second half of the 2015-16 season.

BSU, now 5-9-3 overall and 4-8-2 in WCHA play, opens the series looking for its first since 2-0 decision at Ferris State University, Dec. 4.

The Beavers are 6-2-1 all-time versus the Nanooks, which includes a 1-1-0 mark on the Olympic-sized ice at UA’s Carlson Center. BSU hosted Alaska Nov. 14-15 and split with the Nanooks. After being defeated, 4-3 in the series opener, the Beavers clamped down and secured the split with a 6-3 victory in the finale.

A year ago, Bemidji State went 11-5-2 during the second half of the regular season, which included a seven-game unbeaten streak (6-0-1) from Feb. 13-March 7.
