Bemidji State’s Emeline Sevila and Ciara Brewster’s first place finishes highlighted several strong performances for the Beavers as they hosted the Super 8 Open at the Gillett Recreation-Fitness Center Saturday afternoon.

Emeline Sevila, a junior transfer from Nimes, France finished at the top in the long jump, stretching the tape to 17-01.50. Sevila also finished in second place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.72, a personal best.

Finishing just behind Sevila in the long jump and the 60-meter hurdles was senior Chloe Miller. Miller finished in second with a leap of 15-06.25 in the long jump, and third place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.93.

Senior thrower Ciara Brewster set a career best weight throw with a toss of 44-00.75, good for first place. Brewster also finished in second place in the shot put, with a 38-00.25 throw. Freshman Samara Tobeck also set a personal best with a throw of 43-00.25, finishing just behind Brewster in second place.

This Saturday, January 23 the Beavers will travel to Superior, Wis. to compete in the Twin Ports Open on the campus of University of Wisconsin-Superior.
