The Bemidji State University track and field team collected one top finish and several second place finishes at the Yellowjacket Open on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Superior Saturday.
Nicole Crummy sprinted to first place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2-minutes, 21.30-seconds.
Bemidji State also had six second place finishes.
Nikki Anderson was the runner-up in both the 60-meter hurdles and the triple jump. Anderson set a personal-best 60-meter hurdle time at 9.48 seconds. Throwers Ciara Brewster and Samantha Velde both set personal-bests and finished second in their respective events. Brewster’s throw of 40 feet, 9.75 inches was good for second in the shot put. Velde had a 45 feet, 6.50 inch weight throw. Sara Melom was a runner up in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.35. Finally, Freshman Emily Rapp set a career-best time of 30.30 in the 200-meter hurdles, finishing second.
This Friday Bemidji State returns home to host the BSU Twilight at the Gillett Recreation-Fitness Center. Events are set to get underway at 5 p.m.
