The Bemidji State University tennis team fell to St. Cloud State University today, 7-2. The Beavers are now 4-2 overall and 3-2 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.
After doubles play BSU was already struggling to come back as they were down 2-1. No. 1 doubles pair, Morgan Opp and Zoe Lindgren were able to put up a point for the Beavers by defeating their opponent 8-2.
Bemidji State women’s tennis was unable to regain momentum going into singles play, as freshman Zoe Lindgren was the only player to win her match in the No. 3 slot (6-1, 6-0). No. 1 singles Deanie Hatch fought hard in her match as she dropped her first set, 6-2 but came back to win her second set 6-0. Hatch lost her match overall in a close tie break to her opponent, El O’Brien ending with a score of 11-9. No. 2 singles Morgan Opp and No. 6 singles Justine Scheller also went to a tie break in their matches but were unable to come out on top.
The Beavers continue NSIC play this weekend as they travel to Sioux Falls, S.D. to take on University of Sioux Falls at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27. BSU will close the weekend with Augustana College, Sunday, Feb. 28 at 9 a.m.
