The Bemidji State University tennis team completed a 2-0 weekend of play with an 8-1 victory over the University of Minnesota Crookston, Sunday in Grand Forks, N.D. The second meeting of the season between the teams was a nonconference match.
The Beavers opened the singles portion of the match toting a 3-0 victory after doubles pairs of Morgan Opp/Zoe Lindgren (8-2), Claudia Bellew/Justine Scheller (8-2) and Hope Johnson/Sabrina Okeson (8-1) posted victories over the Golden Eagles.
Bemidji State head coach Mark Fodness juggled his line up giving his usual No. 2 and 4 singles players, Deanie Hatch and Lindgren, the afternoon off.
After UMC’s Catie Brown took the No. 1 singles match over Shaylin Prout 7-6 (7-4), 6-3, the Beavers bounced back rattling off five consecutive straight-sets wins. Opp took the No. 2 singles match 6-3, 6-0; Bellew was victorious, 6-2, 6-0, in the No. 3 slot; Scheller won her No. 4 singles match, 6-0, 6-1; Breanne Walsh won in the No. 5 slot by default and Jessica Dulz made her 206 singles debut with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6.
