The Bemidji State University women’s tennis team wraps up the 2016 regular season with three road matches this weekend. The Beavers will first take on Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minn. in a nonconference match Friday, April 8, at 3 p.m. BSU will then travel to Owatonna, Minn. to face Minnesota State University, Mankato and Southwest Minnesota State University Saturday, April 9, at 8 a.m. and Sunday, April 10, at 8 a.m., respectively.
Last year the Beavers defeated Martin Luther, 9-0, as well as Southwest Minnesota State, 5-4. BSU, however fell to Minnesota State, 8-1. In Bemidji State women’s tennis history, the Beavers are 2-0 all-time against Martin Luther, 8-11 against Southwest Minnesota State and 2-11 against Minnesota State.
The Beavers improve to 10-4 overall and 5-4 in league play after a 2-0 road sweep, matching their 1999 season for largest win total in program history. Bemidji State women’s tennis defeated Minnesota State University Moorhead and University of Mary April 2-3, both matches ending in a score of 5-4.
BSU is currently ranked sixth in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and have clinched a spot in the 2016 NSIC Championship Tournament. The tournament will take place April 23-24 at the Oakdale Village Tennis Center in Minnetonka, Minn.
