The Bemidji State University women’s golf team opened the spring portion of its 2015-16 season with am eighth-place finish at the Upper Iowa Invitational at Sunnyside Country Club in Waterloo, Iowa.
The Beavers finished 102 strokes off the pace at 191-over-par, (389-378—767).
Concordia University-St. Paul led from wire-to-wire, posting a team total of 89-over-par, 665 (327-338) to claim the team title.
Individually, the Beavers were led by sophomore Katy Woelfel, who finished the 36-hole event tied for 19th place at 37-over-par (92-89—181). BSU’s Mary Elmquist and Emily Larson finished in 35th and 36st overall at +50 (98-96—194) and +51 (100-95—195), respectively.
Concordia-St. Paul carded the top three individual tournaments with Kari Opatz taking a five-shot edge over the field at 14-over-par (75-83—158).
Bemidji State will return to action April 16-17 when it travels to Coon Rapids, Minn. and Bunker Hills Golf Club for the MSU Spring Invitational.
