BSU Women’s Hockey adds Bemidji High School Grad to Roster

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University Women’s Hockey Head Coach Jim Scanlan announced today the addition of Heather Olson to the 2016-17 roster. Olson, a 2016 graduate from Bemidji High School, is one of seven incoming freshman to join the Beavers for the upcoming season.

“Heather is an outstanding young person first and foremost, and she will acclimate to our culture very quickly,” said Scanlan. “She is a tremendous athlete and can play either forward or defense. It will be fun to see how much her game grows as she dedicates herself to hockey full time.”

Olson was a three-sport athlete for the Lumberjacks competing for the school’s volleyball, hockey and softball teams. A captain during the 2015-16 season, Olson helped Head Coach and Beaver Hockey Alumnus Jackie (Robertson) Stoffel and the Lumberjacks reach the Section 8-AA Playoffs and finished with a 10-16 record.

Also joining Olson as new additions to the Beaver women’s hockey program are Lauren Bench (G, Eagan, Minn.), Abby Halluska (F, Delano, Minn.), Briana Jorde (D, Thief River Falls, Minn.), Jacqueline Kaasa (F, Hudson, Wis.), Haley Mack (F, East Grand Forks, Minn.), and Kaitlin Radke (F, Hastings, Minn.).

All signees are contingent upon admission to BSU and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.
