Men’s Hockey Loses Coach Ted Belisle to NHL

Longtime Bemidji State men’s hockey coach, and former player, Ted Belisle has left his job with the University to become a college scout for the National Hockey League’s LA Kings. Belisle begins his new job immediately.

Belisle has been BSU’s lead recruiter for more than a decade, often spending weeks at a time on the road looking for players to become the next Beaver great.

Tom Serratore tells BSUBeavers.com:

“This is a great opportunity for Teddy to advance his career at the professional level,” said Head Coach Tom Serratore. “He has a great eye for talent and is going to do an outstanding job for the L.A. Kings.

“Teddy has been a big part of this program for 13 years as a recruiting coordinator and assistant coach and four years before that as a player and captain. His fingerprints are all over this program.” Serratore added, “He has given his heart and soul to Beaver Hockey and he will be missed.”

Belisle has been with BSU as a coach since 2003. Belisle has been a part of five College Hockey America regular-season championships, four NCAA Tournament appearances, including the Frozen Four in 2009, four 20-win seasons and three CHA Tournament titles. He also played 90 games for the Beavers and was a team captain in 2000-2001.

A search for Belisle’s replacement will begin immediately.
