The Bemidji State soccer team returns home after a huge weekend road sweep. The Beavers will begin this week with a home match against the University Of Mary on Thursday night at 7 pm at Chet Anderson Stadium. The Beavers will then travel to Minot State university on Sunday to face their NSIC rivals at 1 pm.
The Beavers have a lot of momentum coming into this week of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. For the first time ever the Beavers swept the Winona State, Upper Iowa road weekend series. Bemidji State beat Winona State 3-2, it was only the second time in team history that the Bavers have Defeated the Warriors in Winona Minnesota.
The Beavers were lead to victory by a three goal first half, Bayley Ertl collected her third goal on the season and freshman Emma Brechlin recorded her first collegiate career goal, Raquel Thelen scored her second goal on the season and Sarah Stram helped out by getting her team leading 6th assist on the season.
On Sunday the Beavers won a hard fought 1-0 battle with the Upper Iowa Peacocks, once again senior Bayley Ertl helped lead the Beavers to victory on the offensive side by netting her team leading fourth goal on the season she was assisted by Raquel Thelen it was her fith assist on the year, Thelen has recorded a point in five of the Beavers’ first six matches and is second on the team with nine points (2g-5a). Catherine Arneson came up big for the Beavers in the victory, she turned aside all five shots she faced Sunday to post her first shutout of the season and her second win on the year.
Bemidji State looks to build off their 5-1 overall record and look to stay undefeated against NSIC opponents (currently 3-0).
