The Bemidji State University women’s golf team opened its 2016-17 by hosting the Tracy Lane Memorial Intercollegiate Golf Tournament, Sunday and Monday at the Bemidji Town and Country Club. Led by Katy Woelfel, who finished sixth individually, the Beavers took seventh in the 36-hole event.
Woelfel, who carded rounds of 79 (+7) and 82 (+10) finished four strokes (161/+17) off the pace set by Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Abbe Partington (82-75=157/+13).
Partington and the Mavericks places all four of its counted scores among the top 10 on the leaderboard to claim the team title 326-319=645 (+69), finishing the two-day event with a 17-shot cushion over Concordia University-St. Paul (335-327=662).
Bemidji State recorded rounds of 358 and 360 to finish with 718 (+142) in seventh place.
Bemidji State will return to action Sept. 24-25 when it travels to Marshall, Minn. and the Marshall Country Club for the SMSU Mustang Fall Invitational.
