The Bemidji State University men’s ice hockey team dropped three spots in the USCHO.com top 20 poll, and narrowly missed the top 15 of the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll following it’s non-conference series with Princeton University.

At No. 13, this week marks the ninth consecutive week the Beavers have appeared in the USCHO.com poll in 2016-17 and the 141th time since making a move to the NCAA Division I level for the 1999-2000 season. The Beavers have reached as high as No. 4 in the poll, Dec. 12, 2009, and have been a top 20 team for 40 weeks.

This week the Beavers earned 345 points to dip three spots in the USCHO.com poll, while the University of Minnesota Duluth remained in the top spot, garnering 47 of 50 first place votes and 995 points.

After two straight weeks in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll, Bemidji State fell out of the top 15 but continues to receive votes, marking the sixth straight week BSU has made an appearance in the poll and 62 weeks receiving at least one vote since making the jump to the NCAA Division I level prior to the 1999-2000 season.

The University of Minnesota Duluth was back atop the USA Today/USA Hockey Poll after for the second straight week and four week this season. The Bulldogs took all 34 first place votes.

The Beavers join Minnesota State University Mankato, this week’s No. 15 team in the polls, as the only Western Collegiate Hockey Association representatives in the national polls, while Michigan Tech and Lake Superior State are both receiving votes in the USCHO.com survey.

The Beavers, now 11-4-1 overall and 11-0-1-1 in Western Collegiate Hockey Association play, will attempt to maintain grip on first place in the league standings as they return to WCHA play with a trip to Houghton, Mich. to battle Michigan Tech, Dec. 2-3. The series will get underway at 6:07 p.m. (CT) Friday before a 6:07 p.m. opening face off Saturday. Both games will be played at John MacInnes Student Ice Arena.
