Head Coach Mike Boschee and the Bemidji State University men’s basketball team hosts University of Minnesota Crookston at 8 p.m. from the Sanford Center. The Beavers (4-10, 2-7 NSIC) are looking to split the season series against the Golden Eagles (6-9, 2-7 NSIC) after a loss Dec. 15 in Crookston.
The Beavers and Golden Eagles play for the 53rd time in the series history, led by BSU, 47-15. BSU and UMC first played Jan. 13, 1922, a 21-15 victory for the Golden Eagles.
Minnesota Crookston beat Bemidji State in the first meeting of the season with a final-second free throw, 82-81, at Lysaker Gymnasium. Senior forward Ben Best and freshman guard Jai’Vionne Green each scored 22 points and shot over 50.0 percent from the field.
Ben Best came three points shy of his career high in the weekend opener against the Huskies, finishing with 25 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the field. Green extended his team-high scoring average with 19 points to follow Best. Senior forward Will Harvey and freshman forward Lucas Wendt each scored 12 points, Wendt’s points all coming in the second half.
Minnesota Crookston enters the midweek game after splitting against St. Cloud State, an 82-58 loss, and Minnesota Duluth, a 92-89 win, at Lyskaer Gymnasium in Crookston. UMC currently sits one spot ahead of BSU in the NSIC North division with two wins in league play.
