The Bemidji State University women’s hockey team skated to a 2-2 tie with No. 2 University of Minnesota Duluth but earned the extra point in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association standings with a 2-0 victory in the shootout.
Sophomore Emily Bergland scored with 4:28 remaining in the third period to tie the game at two and Emma Terres and Carley Esse each scored in the shootout for the Beavers.
Senior Brittni Mowat stopped 38-of-40 shots by the Bulldogs while Bergland (1g-1a) and Alexis Joyce (0g-2a) each had multiple points in the game.
For Bergland it’s her fourth multi-point game of the season and she continues to pace the Beavers with 16 points (9g-7a).
The Beavers continue the second half of their season next weekend with a home-and-home series with University of North Dakota. Bemidji State will host the Fighting Hawks Friday, Jan. 27 and then travel to Grand Forks, N.D. Sunday, Jan. 29.
