Some people just get “it”. What is “it”? Depends. For a hockey player, it might be how to win a draw. It might be when to jump up in the play. For a human being, it goes much further.
For people, it might be how to go about life. It might be how to treat other people. It might be how to insure that future generations are better off…because you came before them!
Zach Whitecloud is one of those that gets IT. He grew up as a member of the Dakota Band of the Sioux Valley of the Dakota Nation. Like many Native Americans, he didn’t have a great life growing up. But as he says, “It was pretty good!”
Zach is one of a limited few members of Tribes across North America to play sports at the NCAA Division 1 level. Trust me, he doesn’t take that responsibility lightly!
Zach Whitecloud is why I love my job. Getting to know Bemidji State’s Student Athletes is a perk of the job. Trust me, I’m lucky to have been able to get to know Zach. After you watch this…you’ll be lucky too!
You agree? Are you lucky for getting to know this intelligent man…much older than his years would indicate?
I hope you are…for this is why we are fans of the Bemidji State Beavers!
