This trip to Pittsburgh couldn’t have been better timed out. I get to witness some great hockey this weekend!
The Bemidji State women’s hockey team plays the Robert Morris Colonials in the final non-conference series of the season. The Beavers will be playing at the same arena as the Pittsburgh Penguins play in; The Consol Energy Center. Friday’s games are part of the RMU Hockey Showcase. Then Saturday we’re headed back over to the Colonials regular rink; The Island Sports Center.
Tonight, I have the opportunity to watch the Philadelphia Flyers play against the Pittsburgh Penguins in one of the biggest rivalries in all of the NHL. More importantly, is that I get to watch former Bemidji State Beaver Matt Read play for the Flyers and get to visit with him in the post game.
The other fun part of my weekend is that I got to finally try a Primanti Brothers Philadelphia cheesesteak sandwich, yes, the one that Schultzie is always bragging about from his many trips during the CHA years playing Bobby Moe.
As I type this, the Flyers have a 2-1 lead over the Penguins with 8:21 to play. You should have heard the crowd boo when Jaromir Jagr scored that go ahead goal.
