Bemidji State Soccer returns home for Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State
The Bemidji State University Soccer team brings its program-best No. 7 national ranking back to Chet Anderson Stadium this weekend and looks to stretch its winning streak beyond eight matches. The Beavers open the weekend at 3 p.m. Friday when they host University of Sioux Falls (3-5-0; 2-3-0 NSIC) and wrap it up with a 1 p.m. matinee versus Southwest Minnesota State University (2-5-0; 2-3-0 NSIC) Sunday.
The Beavers welcome the Cougars and Mustangs to Chet Anderson Stadium this weekend—a place the Beavers have not lost since Oct. 2, 2016. BSU is 15-0-2 in its last 17 home matches.
The Beavers open the week holding down a program-best No. 7 ranking in the United Soccer Coaches national poll and are No. 1 in the Central Region for the first time in program history.
Last week BSU pushed its record to 8-0-0 overall and 5-0-0 in league play as it went 2-0-0 in NSIC play. The Beavers earned a 5-1 victory at Upper Iowa University, behind two-goal efforts from reigning NSIC Offensive Player of the Week Ally Smith and Rachael Norton. BSU also picked up a 2-0 victory at Winona State University where Anna Fobbe turned aside six shots for her third shut out of 2018.
BSU is coming off a 2017 campaign during which it compiled an overall record of 15-1-4 and finished second in the NSIC standings owning a 12-0-3 mark in league play. At the conclusion of the regular season, BSU made its ninth consecutive appearance in the NSIC Tournament and earned a berth into the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
