The top-ranked University of Wisconsin Badgers defeated Bemidji State University Friday 5-0 to open a Western Collegiate Hockey Association series at LaBahn Arena in Madison, Wis.
The Badgers and Beavers would go nose to nose for the first 10 minutes of play, but when Sophia Shaver scored for the Badgers to break the scoreless tie at the 11:15 mark of the first period, it ignited the Wisconsin offense.
Despite being tagged for five goals, BSU goaltender Kerigan Dowhy posted a career-high 42 saves. She moves to 2-5-0 on the season.
The series finale is set for a 2:07 p.m. opening face off Saturday. Tune in to our broadcast 37 minutes before the puck drops for our pregame show on KPMI AM 1300 & 94.3 FM The Legends.
