BSU Softball falls in doubleheader at No. 1 Augustana

The Bemidji State University softball team fell in both games of its Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader at No. 1 Augustana University Saturday afternoon. The Beavers (10-28, 6-18) fell in game one to the Vikings (34-4, 22-2) 11-0 in five innings and the 9-1 in six innings in game two.

Bemidji State was held to just one hit in game one versus Augustana when sophomore Ashley Herold singled in the second inning.

Redshirt freshman Kyla Damerow earned the loss in the circle after allowing seven runs (six earned) off of four hits in one inning while junior Kaidron McClafferty came in to pitch three innings in relief and allowed two runs (one earned) off of six hits.

Bemidji State senior Stephi Dullum held the Vikings to just two runs and four hits through the first four innings in game two but a three-run fifth inning and four-run sixth innings led to a 9-1 victory for the Vikings.

The Beavers totaled two hits in the game and their lone run in the game came in the fifth inning when senior Sami Dullum hit a lead-off double and eventually scored on a wild pitch. Junior Kora Martin recorded the other hit for the Beavers.

Dullum pitched all 5.2 innings and allowed nine runs (seven earned) off of 11 hits and had two strikeouts to fall to 6-9 this season.

The Beavers’ doubleheader at Wayne State College scheduled for Sunday was been canceled due to COVID_19 protocols within the WSC program and will play this weekend for the regular season finale at home against Minot State and U-Mary.
