Beavers Head to Alaska to Open WCHA Play
The Bemidji State men’s hockey team will open league play this weekend on the road in Fairbanks, Alaska. BSU opened the season with a pair of non-conference games with St Cloud State and North Dakota.
The Beavers are 0-2-2 to open the season and are coming out of a non-conference weekend at the University of North Dakota where the Fighting Hawks outlasted the Beavers in overtime, 2-1, to open the series and handed them a 4-1 loss Saturday.
Bemidji State first met Alaska Jan. 3, 1982 with a 12-0 victory. Since then, BSU has held the edge in the series, 13-5-3, which includes a 5-2-1. record in games versus the Nanooks in Fairbanks. Although BSU dropped its last meeting, 2-1 (OT), with Alaska Jan. 12 of last season, BSU is unbeaten in four of the last five meetings between the teams.
