Beavers open four-game week versus Lake Superior State
The Bemidji State University men’s hockey team opens the final week of the 2020-21 regular season with a rare Tuesday-Wednesday Western Collegiate Hockey Association series versus Lake Superior State University. The puck is set to drop at 6:07 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday’s series finale will take place at 4:07 p.m.
Lake Superior State owns a slight edge in an all-time series 34-32-6, which dates back to 1966. The Lakers also own a 16-15-3 advantage in games played Bemidji, Minn. However, the Beavers have not dropped a game to LSSU in the last three meetings (2-0-1) and has lost just one game since the beginning of the 2019-20 season (6-1-2).
When BSU and LSSU met in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. earlier this season (Jan. 2-3), BSU took the series by virtue of a 4-1 victory, led by a pair of goals and the game-winner from, Brendan Harris, and a 2-2 tie in the finale before dropping the shoot out.
Ranked 17th in the most recent USCHO.com national poll, BSU is 10-7-3 overall and holds down sixth place in the WCHA standings with a 5-4-1 mark in league play. At 13-5-3, Lake Superior State is currently tied with Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan for third place in the WCHA standings as the regular season winds down teams position themselves in one of the top four spots in the standings to claim a home playoff series.
