BSU Men’s Golf finishes seventh at J.R. Watkins Invite
The Bemidji State University Men’s Golf team finished seventh of 10 teams at the J.R. Watkins Invitational Tuesday evening after posting a team score of 610 (311-299) and seeing a 12-stroke improvement on day two of the tournament.
The Beavers were led by senior Brandon Nelson who carded 149 (77-72, +5) to tie for 13th individually. He was followed by Koby Kuenzel who carded 153 (79-74) and tied for 28th. Kuenzel was followed by Jack Southard (78-76) and Tanner Wanous (77-77) who each carded 154 while Tate Usher rounded out the Beavers five scorers with 157 (80-77).
Competing as individuals at the tournament were Gus Vatnsdal (82-75=157), Seth Schricker (81-77=158), Gordon Skaar (82-79=161) and Alex Iverson (89-84=173).
Winona State University took home the team title after posting a team score of 572 (288-284) to finish 13 strokes in front of second place, Missouri Western State University. Dawson Wills won the individual title after carding 139 (69-70) to finish five-under par for the tournament.
Bemidji State concludes play during the fall season next week and will travel to St. Joseph, Mo., to compete at the Central Region Invitational at St. Joseph Country Club, Oct. 11-12.
