NSIC Cross Country Championships set for Bemidji State on Saturday, Oct. 23

The 2021 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Cross Country Championships will take place in Wayne, Neb., on Saturday, Oct. 23, hosted by Wayne State College. The Bemidji State University program will compete in the 6,000-meter race beginning at 10 a.m. from the Wayne Country Club.

For the second straight race, BSU freshman Mary Goodwin paced the team to lead to a fourth-place finish at the Bob Waxlax Invitational in Sauk Rapids, Minn. Goodwin took 12th with a personal record time in the 6,000-meter race at the meet hosted by St. Cloud State University.

Goodwin’s personal record time of 23:43.9 paced the Beavers, followed by senior Ryne Prigge with a time of 23:48.5 to finish 14th. Also finishing among the top 20 was freshman Zoey Mills with a 17th-place and personal record time of 24:23.7.

Freshman Carol Miller took 30th with a personal record time of 25:59.2, nearly two minutes faster than her previous PR set at the Roy Griak Invitational two weekends ago. Junior Lily Johnson rounded out BSU’s top five scoring runners with a 35th-place finish of 26:26.1

Bemidji State will follow the NSIC Championship with the NCAA Central Region Championships Saturday, Nov. 6 at 10:00 a.m. in Joplin, Mo.
