UND Tune-Up Feb. 19 marks final meet for Track & Field before conference

The Bemidji State University indoor track & field team travels for the UND Indoor Tune-Up Saturday, Feb. 19 in Grand Forks, N.D., its final competition before the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference meet Feb. 25-26. Saturday’s meet will begin with throwing events at 12 p.m. followed by running events at 2 p.m. from the Frederick “Fritz” D. Pollard Jr. Athletic Center.

Three Bemidji State indoor track & field records fell Feb. 12 as the team competed at the NSIC Challenge hosted by Minnesota State University, Mankato. Breaking records was senior Analise Fabre in the triple jump, junior Anastasia Klein in the pole vault and the 4×400-meter relay team.

Fabre broke her own Bemidji State program record with a third-place leap of 37-feet-03.25-inches, surpassing her previous record by three inches from February 2021. Klein’s pole vault mark of 11-01.50 finished fifth on the day and broke the previous BSU record of 10-10.00 set twice, first in 2008 by Angela Miller and again in 2014 by Hailey Horob.

For the second time this season, the 4x400m relay team broke the BSU record, previously setting the record on a 300m track. The team of Rachel Myers, Janice Cole, Skyler Tillery and Maryse Mbenoun ran a time of 3:59.32 on the 200m track to finish third in the event, beating the previous record by 0.63 seconds.

The Beavers garnered two event wins behind performances from seniors Maryse Mbenoun and Ryne Prigge. Mbenoun won the 600m run with a time of 1:39.53 while Prigge won the 1,000m run with a time of 3:04.50.

Bemidji State ended the meet with eight top-five finishes. Sophomore Alaina Hall took fifth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.92, sophomore Abby Syverson took fifth in the 800m run with a personal record time of 2:24.46 and junior Tierra Doss took fifth in the shot put with a toss of 41-09.75.

In total, the Beavers set 18 personal records during the meet.
