Beavers travel to Florida for The Spring Games
Bemidji State competes in 10 games over six-day stretch
After a two-week hiatus the Bemidji State University Softball team travels to Clermont, Fla., for 10 games over a six-day stretch. The Beavers will start the week with Clarion University and University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown on Sunday Mar. 5, at 1 p.m. CT.
Bemidji State returns to The Spring Games competing last year where they were unable to capture a win. Of the 10 teams the Beavers will face, five will be the first meeting between teams. The Beavers return to the diamond after going 2-2 in the Bubble Invite claiming victories over University of Providence (Mont.) 8-2 and Carroll College 8-0. Sunday, Mar. 5

Fifth-year senior Kora Martin leads the Beavers batting .421 to go along with eight hits, two doubles and a triple. Martin has drawn seven walks, scored six runs and batted in three runners. Sophomore Mariah Stevenson leads the team with a .682 slugging percentage coming from two doubles and two home runs, driving in a team-high six runs. Junior Molly Houts also has six RBI’s, with one homerun coming against Providence. (Mont.).
Senior Kyla Damerow an ERA of 3.44, best on the team. Damerow is 1-3 on the season, while pitching one compete game in her win over Providence (Mont.). Damerow has struck out nine batters in her 20.1 innings pitched and only walked three. Junior Stella Dolan (2-2) won her second game of the season in the five-inning game against Carrol College. Dolan has nine strikeouts, three compete games and one shutout.
