Beavers head west to take on Wolves and Dragons
The Beavers head to Aberdeen, S.D. and Moorhead, Minn. for a pair of NSIC matches this weekend
Bemidji State University soccer travels to Aberdeen, S.D. Friday and Moorhead, Minn. Sunday to take on the Northern State University Wolves and Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons, respectively.
The 6-3 Beavers are on a three-match win streak after sweeping University of Sioux Falls, 1-0, Winona State University, 3-0 and taking the Senior Day win over Southwest Minnesota State University 2-1. The Beavers currently sit in second place in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with a win percentage of .800. Above them, Minnesota State University Mankato holds the top spot with a 5-0-1 conference record and .917 win percentage.
The Beavers and Wolves have met 33 times since Sep. 20, 1997. Most recently, last season’s matchup ended in a 1-1 tie with both teams grabbing a goal in the second half. This match broke a seven-match win streak for the Beavers. In the last 10 matches, the team boasts an 8-1-1 record with a 14-8-4 record in conference play.
Bemidji State has dominated against MSU Moorhead with a record of 21-13-1. The Beavers defeated the Dragons, 1-0, a little over a year ago, extending their current series win streak to five matches. Now a junior, Katrina Barthelt the current NSIC Offensive Player of the Week, scored the lone goal in the 49th minute, assisted by Madeline Davey.
Following this weekend, the Beavers head back to Chet Anderson Stadium to host Minot State University and University of Mary on Oct. 18 and 20, respectively. On Sunday, the Beavers will celebrate their Cheryl Smyth Memorial Game with a match beginning at 1 p.m. Tickets for both games are available at Hometown Ticketing and all NSIC matches are available for streaming through the NSIC Network.
