The Bemidji State University tennis team opens its 2015 season this weekend as it travels to Fargo, N.D. The Beavers will face Concordia College at Courts Plus, Sunday, Feb. 1 at 11:30 a.m. in non-conference play.
There are only two new freshmen on the roster this year, Sabrina Okeson (Thief River Falls, Minn.) and Claudia Bellew (Bemidji, Minn.). BSU brings back eight returning players from last season to complete the team. Deanie Hatch had the best singles record last year with a 7-3 overall record and a 4-3 mark in NSIC action. Mikela Kowatsch and Caley Westin together had the best doubles record for the Beavers with an overall record of 6-4 and 3-4 in conference matches.
The Bemidji State tennis team finished the 2014 season with an 8-8 overall record and a 4-7 mark in NSIC action.
The Beavers will host their 2015 home opener on Feb. 28 playing host to University of Sioux Falls. Matches are set to start at 9 a.m. from the Gillett Recreation/Fitness Center on the campus of Bemidji State University.
