A trio of Bemidji State University women’s golfers were among the leaders Sunday after 36 holes of the Dragon Invitational at Moorhead Country Club in Moorhead, Minn. Sophomore Katy Woelfel led all BSU competitors carding rounds of 86 (+15) and 87 (+16) to finish 33-over par (173) locked in a tie for fourth place individually, while leading the Beavers to second place in the opening event of the 2015-16 season.
Woelfel’s 36-hole total of 173 (+31) left her 13 strokes behind the pace of individual medalist Kayla Barke (+18/160) from Minot State University.
Junior Mary Elmquist carded a nine-over-par 81 on the final day of the invitational to climb eight spots on the leaderboard, finish tied for seventh individually along with Emily Larson at 175 (+33).
The Beavers’ team total of 715 (371-344) put the Beavers in second place overall, 20 strokes off the pace set by Jamestown College (+127/347-348—695), five shots ahead of third place Minot State (+152/376-344—720).
Bemidji State returns to action Sept. 26-27 when it travels to the Marshall Country Club in Marshall, Minn. for the 36-hole 2015 Mustang Invitational.
