Brittni Mowat made 30 saves Saturday afternoon as the Bemidji State Beavers shutout the Vermont Catamounts 3-0 to complete the weekend road sweep. It was the 11th career shutout for the junior Beaver goaltender.
BSU defeated UVM Friday 2-1 with goals from Emma Terres and Madison Hutchinson. Mowat only had 11 saves in the Game 1 win for the Beavers.
Saturday, the Beavers scored a single goal in each of the three periods. Three of the four offensive lines scored for BSU. Ciscely Nelson struck first as a scrum broke out in the Vermont crease and she finished it off with her first career goal. Kristine scored the second goal in the second period deflecting a shot by Madison Hutchinson The third Beaver goal was a pretty play set up by Hutchinson to Kaitlyn Tougas who found Hanna Moher in the perfect spot to complete the sweep.
Hutchinson finished the weekend with four points, while Moher had a total of three points. Mowat stopped 41 shots in the series.
Bemidji State is now 3-0-1 on the season.
The Beavers return home this Friday to face the University of Minnesota Duluth in the first WCHA series of the 2015-16 season.
