The Bemidji State University soccer team secured the No. 6 seed in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Soccer Tournament and will face third-seeded Minot State University in the quarterfinal round Wednesday at 5 p.m. in Minot, N.D.
The winner will advance to the semifinal round hosted by the highest remaining seed and will play with winner of the No. 3 seed Augustana University/No. 7 Southwest Minnesota State match up, at 11 a.m. or 12 p.m. Friday, with the championship set for 1 p.m. Sunday.
The 2015 NSIC Soccer Tournament champion will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Central Regional Tournament set for Nov. 13-15.
BSU concluded its regular season with a 2-1, overtime victory over University of Minnesota Duluth Sunday to finish 11-6-1 overall and 8-6-1 in NSIC play.
The Beavers make their seventh consecutive appearance in the conference tournament.
Minnesota State clinched the 2015 NSIC regular season title and finished the regular season with a 14-0-1 record in league play, while it is 16-1-1 overall.
Since taking over the BSU soccer program in the fall of 2002, head coach Jim Stone’s teams have made the eight-team NSIC tournament in 11 of 14 seasons.
Stone-coached teams at BSU are 3-10-2 all-time in postseason play with each of the ties decided by a shootout.
