The Bemidji State soccer team will open the season September 3rd at home, hosting Minnesota Crookston. The Northern Sun Conference Coaches picked the Beavers to finish fifth in the league standings.
Sarah Stram has paced the Beavers ever since she walked on campus. From bsubeavers.com:
A native of Elk Grove Village, Ill., Stram appeared in all 19 contests for BSU in 2015. She led the team and ranked sixth in the NSIC netting 10 goals. Six of the goals she scored stood as the game-winners, to rank fifth among the league leaders, while the Beavers were 7-2-0 when she found the back of the net. Her 26 points (10g-6a) led the team and place her in a tie for eighth on BSU’s single-season scoring list. She earned First-Team All-NSIC and National Soccer Coaches’ Association of America All-Central Region accolades following the season. Also a standout in the classroom, she became the second player in BSU Soccer history to earn Academic All-America honors and was selected to the NSCAA’s Scholar All-Region Team.
In three seasons, Stram has made an impact on BSU’s all-time scoring lists. In 57 matches, the junior has 29 goals (4th), including 13 game-winners (2nd), and 17 assists (5th) for 75 points (3rd). She ranks among the top five Beavers of all time in each category.
The beavers will make their Beaver Radio Network debut on September 22nd, hosting U-Mary at the Chet at 7pm.
